The Astronaut Teacher Alliance Rocks with Moon Rocks

We provide a discussion forum for the implications of realizing the future of a human presence in space. Contributions of the New Space private sector provide us with empirical evidence and now demonstrate the viability of a commerce that will leave bureaucratic agencies gazing at our shock diamonds in awe. This is only one example that has governments scrambling to temper the perceived legislative glass ceiling in a desperate attempt to stop dodo birds with a transparent political agenda.

Has no one noticed? While the dodo disappeared with the 1600’s, the cause of the dodo’s demise persists today. The destruction of the forest, cut off the Dodo's food supply, and their extinction. However, humans continue to deplete resources with negative impacts on the environment, sanctioned by government officials tethered to their constituencies who are doing the depleting for the almighty green back. It is interesting that the most salient argument against going to space is that government should rather fund the amelioration of ills suffered by humans on Earth, clueless that our struggles are directly tied to their activities.

The population at large is generally unaware that space is no longer the sole domain of government agencies and their corresponding bureaucratic nonsense. Furthermore, contrary to popular belief, going to space for resources to satisfy a first world country’s lust for creature comforts, we will begin to placate the desperation experienced by the masses resultant from greed that accumulates massive wealth with the sweat on the brow of the destitute. So what do we do? How do we accomplish a radical shift of thinking?

Every logical argument at the disposal of our most creative minds has been presented to Congress but the members of the good ol’ boys club have too much to lose. Even so, the powers that be have painted themselves into a corner with the decommissioning of Shuttle service to the ISS. This blunder opened the door for the COTS contract, a real victory, notwithstanding accomplishments under the Ansari XPrize.

But it is only the beginning. Perhaps the picture painted here has made one thing perfectly clear. There is a piece missing in the entrepreneurial vision and the associated need for policy driven congressional support. To change the mind of Congress, we must frame the mindset of those who will be eligible to vote now and in the years to come; the K16 population!

To accomplish this we bypass the formal educational community with something that neither textbook publishers nor the next “What really works” strategy can provide. We use informal education to introduce students to their future in space. And TATA can do it with a blitz.
